How to create "Content"

I was mowing my front lawn yesterday and a passer by asked me, “Why do you have a picture of Warwick Davis in your window?”

My immediate answer was, why wouldn’t you?! but the truth is that whilst I think Warwick Davis is ace, it just makes me smile and I hope it does the same to people who see it! The lady who stopped said it amused her every time she came past my house so as far as Warwick and I are concerned, our work here is done!

This concept is not dissimilar to my ethos for personal and professional social medial posts. In answer to a recently asked question on this topic, I decided when I set up Lantern that I would try to keep my posts positive, honest, supportive and if possible, educational or entertaining!

Why? Because I believe that there is enough criticism, faking and bragging out there and I don’t want to be a part of that. I’m not pretending that I’m positive 24/7, I have my down days and dark moments. I struggle as much as the next person, but I also believe that you choose your own actions and you can define who you want to be.

A positive mental attitude is a choice but it takes hard work to maintain especially when faced with the tidal wave of negativity which seems to surround us these days, so I’m trying to do my small part to stem the flow!

I also believe in the transparency and honesty of your transmission. If your aim is to foster and develop personal relationships, I think that people need to see the real you, not some chat AI generated content or some clickbait post with surveys and name drops to placate the fickle gods of the elusive LinkedIn algorithm!

Does this model work? Who knows! Sometimes my stuff gets lots of interaction and sometimes not, but who cares? It’s those lovely moments when someone stops me and says how much a post has helped them that reaffirms my faith and makes me carry on!

As ever therefore, I hope that there is something of use or interest to you in today’s ramble but failing that, I hope Warwick made you smile!

Have a good week and keep smiling! 🙂
